Sierra Pacific High School has been named a 2026 California Distinguished School.
According to the California Department of Education website, schools that were honored for demonstrating significant gains in narrowing achievement gaps in students’ learning. California uses a multiple measures accountability system to identify eligible schools based on their performance and progress on the state indicators as specified on the California School Dashboard.
Sierra Pacific became eligible in the categories of exemplary high achievers and achievement gap closers.
Exemplary high achievers were schools that are among the highest in the state in academic achievement for all students, which have also ensured that historically underserved student groups are maintaining or increasing academic progress.
Achievement gap closers were schools that are accelerating academic progress for two or more groups that have been historically underserved, while also demonstrating achievement for all students that is above the state median and maintaining or increasing academic performance for all students.
Senior meeting
A mandatory meeting to discuss all aspects of graduation is scheduled for March 23 at 6 p.m. in the Sierra Pacific gym and attendance by both senior
students and at least one parent/guardian is required.
Principal Jamie Rogers will be reviewing all essential information needed to secure a diploma and participate in the graduation ceremony.
All attendees will be entered into a drawing to win extra graduation tickets.
Student barber contest
Do you have the skills to fade, line up, and create the cleanest cuts? It’s time to show off your talent at the Sierra Pacific Barber Competition.
Students will compete head-to-head individually or as a team for bragging rights, prizes and recognition for their craft April 27 and May 4 in the SP gym.
Students who would like to sign up can fill out a Google Registration form that was sent to emails of all students. The deadline to sign up is April 10 with a meeting with all registered contestants being held April 13 at lunch.
