Sierra Pacific has a new English teacher this year. Christine Pascual has been teaching for seven years and moved to Sierra Pacific from Lemoore High School after hearing great things about Sierra Pacific’s school, staff, and students.
Pascual attended UC Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She loves to teach and bond with her students but she would also like to travel.
“I always wanted to make a difference, so I enjoy connecting with students and impacting them in positive ways.” Pascual states. “Although, if I could get paid to travel, that would be nice, too!”
Her English teacher coworkers were the reason she was looking forward to transferring to Sierra Pacific, plus the staff and how beautiful the campus is.
“I looked forward to meeting my fellow English teachers.” Pascual says. “They are a great group of people, and I feel lucky to be a part of such a wonderful department.”
Pascual’s past teachers were part of the reason she wanted to become a teacher.
“All of my former teachers have inspired me and they’ve helped shape who I’ve become today.” Pascual states.
Pascual spends her day teaching mostly sophomores and juniors. Sophomore Alison Pimentel says she likes Pascual because she is very nice.
“She is a very kind teacher,” Alison states. If you’re stuck on something she will help you with whatever it is.”
Alison says Pascual has made English class easier with all her help.
“She always has examples of what she wants our work to look like,” Alison states. “Which makes it easier to learn from.”
Alison states that the environment in Pascual’s English class is very enjoyable. She has and has made friends with people in her class, she has a good time socializing with her friends and getting her work done, and always has fun with the whole class.
Junior Anthony Garcia Sanchez says Pascual is different from his past English teachers due to her being more chill and easy going.
“Sometimes when everybody is done with their work, she puts on a movie and lets us work on other classwork.” Sanchez states.
Sanchez has trouble with English and says Pascual has helped him understand things that are difficult for him. When asked what his favorite thing about his English classes is, Sanchez responds with “it’s super easy and simple.”
Pascual has clearly made a fun learning environment in her classroom that both sophomores and juniors enjoy.
