Flying down out of the Manta orbital dropship, one small squad of battlefield infiltrators make their way through a war-torn planet with one objective in their minds, to stay low and stay on target. The new Warhammer + subscription series brings the viewer through the journey of Shas’vre Lako’ma and her group of XV25 Stealth-suit firewarriors. With a hot new animation style and only two episodes released as of now, this show packs so much entertainment and action, that watchers wish time travel existed so you can get to the next episode sooner!
Developed by Warhammer Studios, viewable on the Warhammer + app or website, and utilizing a new 3D animation style, “The Exodite” has been extremely well received by fans and critics alike. The episodes are quite short as well being up to 15 minutes long with no commercial interruption. The only downside is that it can only be watched via the paid subscription for Warhammer +. The animation style is beautiful and works extremely well to showcase the brutality of war in the 41st Millenium, and doesn’t make your eyes sore with all the action happening.
The plot of the series takes the burgeoning T’au Empire into conflict with the ruthless and xenophobic Imperium of Man, over the colonization of a ruined Aeldaeri maiden world. The main focus is a small squad of XV25 stealth suits led by the Shas’vre (an equivalent of Officer). The Shas’vre, Lako’ma, is the main character of the show.
Her and her squad have been tasked by an Ethereal (The leaders of the T’au Empire) to find and locate a renegade Aeldari ranger who survived the maiden world’s decimation and is now attempting to cause system wide conflict between the two major forces. The goal when finding him is not to kill him, but to subdue him and understand his darker plans. Completing this task proves easier said than done, even when provided with invisibility cloaks coded into their suits, and some of the greatest infantry weaponry the empire can provide, as the ranger uses his superior skills and stealth to out maneuver the T’au and complete his hidden goal.
As of now with the first two episodes, this is the only information known, but this is sure to be immensely developed when more are released.
The grim-dark world of the Warhammer 40,000 series has its origins from a tabletop game released in 1987 and produced and sold by Games Workshop, a company based in the United Kingdom. While the story of the Warhammer 40,000 universe is far too expensive to recite in this article, what mainly needs to be known is that in the grim-darkness of the far future, there is only war, and this galaxy wide depression involves many different groups, all with their own subdivisions as well. What matters to the series however is that the T’au Empire and the Imperium of Man are in conflict over one planet and a peace negotiation must be reached before the skirmish escalates in a system wide war. The T’au were first discovered as primitives on an arid world by an Imperial scout fleet sometime around the 35th Millenium, but no action was taken on them. Returning after nearly 6,000 years, a new set of Imperial scouts found the T’au to have developed rapidly and using high tech battle suits that stand anywhere from 5 feet to six stories tall, and packing far more firepower than is considered necessary by the human standard. This is where the T’au expansionist policies come into play, with so much power at your fingertips, the only right decision would be to expand to gather more resources, thus bringing the T’au spheres of expansion (essentially a system-wide colonization mission) are brought to the maiden world where the show takes place.
With so much to offer, and so much more eagerly awaited by fans of all factions, “The Exodite” is ready to drop into the spotlight with such grace and power that it will blow people away. That’s the expectation from fans anyway, the only thing to do is wait and see how it develops in the future episodes.
