It is better to be safe than sorry when having to deal with school events being canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Safety should be everyone’s first priority when it comes to a fast spreading virus. Because special student events have been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic it has created a debate on whether schools should continue to have dances with the ongoing virus. The safety protocols that schools have been enforcing are to keep all students and staff safe.
Hosting school dances may not be the smartest idea because of the amount of large gatherings there are going to be. Because schools may still want to hold dances, it would be best to have them outside where students don’t have to wear masks or worry too much about getting sick. Though school dances create good memories, students should be careful when it comes to the safety of others as well as themselves.
When students enter high school, they expect fun events and memories because this might not always be the case, school boards should try their best to still manage to give students their fun high school events. It might be difficult to decide what is best for the safety of students because of the student’s perspective and what they would want to have.
Covid cases increase everyday creating a risk to students and staff in their everyday lives. School dances may be enjoyable by students, but everyone must be thought about in these situations to best prevent risks. It is best to postpone school dances because they can be planned again rather than having a sickness that can be deadly. If everyone does their part in following safety protocols there wouldn’t be as much of a risk of getting sick.
One of the biggest factors of staying safe during the pandemic is social distancing. Students will most likely not follow the social distancing rule at a dance and because of the high numbers in Covid-19 cases it is best to not have any dancing events with an active virus that has been creating variants as well.
While at a school dance, it gets warm inside and sweat begins to accumulate creating bacteria and causing it to spread. Not only would a school dance create a higher risk of infection but it will create a higher risk of spread. The safety of students and staff should be prioritized and if that means canceling a school dance then it should be done to keep everyone safe.
Tons of people have been affected by the pandemic and continuing to have these events would only increase the chances of getting sick. With Covid-19 still active, schools should be careful about the decisions they make that could put student and staff safety at risk.
Schools should definitely cancel dances or arrange a safe way of having them. Not having dances during Covid would be the best thing to do. That way the risk of students and staff getting infected or sick would not be as high.
