The Central Section announces playoff brackets for a majority of the winter sports this week.
In boys basketball, Sierra Pacific is the No. 13 seed in the Division III playoffs. The Golden Bears (15-13 overall) open the postseason on the road against No. 4 Fresno Christian (26-1) on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Fresno Christian. The top seed in the bracket is Tulare Union (24-4).
The winner advances to the quarterfinals, which will be Feb. 17. The winner will face the winner of No. 5 Kingsburg and No. 12 Templeton. Semifinals are Feb. 19 and the championship game is Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. at Selland Arena in Fresno.
All games before the final are at the home site of the higher seeds.
Girls soccer
Sierra Pacific will open the Central Section Division IV playoffs Feb. 13 at home. The third-seeded Bears will host No. 14 Orcutt Academy at 6 p.m. The winner faces the winner of No. 6 Washington Union and No. 11 Morro Bay in the quarterfinals on Feb. 17. Semifinals are Feb. 19 while the championship game’s date is yet to be determined.
Sierra Pacific went 8-8-5 overall in the regular season.
Boys soccer
Sierra Pacific defeated Hanford West 3-0 Feb. 11 to finish the regular season 10-7-6 overall.
The Golden Bears will find out their playoff opponent later this week after winning their league title by going 7-0-1.
Girls basketball
Sierra Pacific defeated Kerman 74-30 on Feb. 11 to win its fourth straight game.
Sierra Pacific is now 16-13 overall and will look to win its second straight Section title. The Golden Bears are the defending Div. II Section champions.
In the Div. II bracket, the Golden Bears earned the No. 7 seed and will open the playoffs at home against No. 10 Liberty (Bakersfield) Feb. 14.
The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on Feb. 18 against the winner of No. 2 Centennial and No. 15 Tehachapi. Semifinals are Feb. 20 with the final Feb. 27 at Selland Arena in Fresno.
Wrestling
Sierra Pacifici will host the Central Section Division II girls wrestling championships this week. The tournament runs Feb. 13-14 in the gym.
The boys travel to Edison to compete in the Div. III boys tournament Feb. 13-14 at Edison High.
At both tournaments, wrestling runs all day and starts at 10 a.m.
Qualifiers advance to the Central Section Masters, which run Feb. 20-21 at Selland Arena in Fresno.
