Eight games into the season and the Sierra Pacific girls soccer team has found a winning stride.
With a mix of younger and veteran players, the Golden Bears are 5-2-1 overall closing in on winter break as the team has won its past three games. That includes a 4-1 over Sanger, a 9-0 win over Coalinga and a 1-0 win over Edison.
When the team returns in 2026, it will hope to make a run to a possible league and Central Section title.
In those eight games, Sierra Paciifc has outsocred its opponents 30-8. That includes a 14-0 victory over Central early in the season.
The team is led by head coach John Oliveira and assistant coach Madison Cunha.
In goal, London Holden has allowed just 1.31 goals per game with 16 saves.
She said she’s hoping the team continues to have a good season as they try and stay focused.
“I’m able to stay motivated throughout the season with the help of my coaches and teammates and knowing that our team can compete,” she said.
Alyssa Patino, who scored a goal and had two assists in that win over Central called it her favorite game of the year so far. She said it give her team to showcase its potential for the season.
“We got to perform together as a team for the first team,” Patino said.
On offense, the Golden Bears have had a variety of players score goals, including senior Morgan Jones, who leads the team with six. Junior Anya Jackson also has four goals.
Sierra Pacific’s next game is Dec. 19 at Matilda Torres. The team then travels to face cross-town rival Hanford Dec. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
