Having a dress code is important when it comes to work and school, but most students refuse to care about it. Dress code is good for hygiene, equality, stopping distractions and keeping things under control within identifying who you are. Grooming and personal cleanliness standards contribute to the morale of all students and effect the school image. Some people might think dress codes are annoying and unfair, but it can actually be helpful.
Dress codes stop distractions. Sometimes, if people wear really flashy or inappropriate clothes, it can make it hard for others to listen or concentrate. During school hours or when representing the school, all students are expected to present a clean, neat and tasteful appearance. Having a dress code means everyone knows what to wear and no one gets bullied for what they have on. This way everyone can focus better on their tasks in school/work.
Another reason why the dress code is good is because when you dress nicely and follow the rules, it shows you care about where you are and what you’re doing. Each school is responsible for establishing a reasonable dress code appropriate for students to perform. If a member of the educational staff feels a student isn’t following the dress code, they are sent you to the office to change, giving you a Sierra Pacific shirt or sending you home.
The acceptability of current styles as they may occur is at the discretion of the school staff where necessary reasonable accommodations may be made to a person or individual. Sometimes it’s necessary to dress down and participate in physical activities. Certain clothes allow one to have more mobility and flexibility to perform exercises. Without unduly restricting individual taste, just like adults dress a certain way for work, students should dress appropriately for learning.
Implementing a dress code could give you a form of confidence. If you look good and feel good, you will most likely feel better about yourself in academics. Having a presentable image could give you tools to lead you in the right path in life. Sometimes it’s necessary to wear respectful clothing that shows that we care about how others feel. It helps create a kind and thoughtful school culture. Self expression gives a sense of pride and unity.
Although dress code is not something we look forward to doing, it still helps us get along and dress code is for us to succeed, and having that is not trying to control us. They’re just trying to support us.
