With December coming right around the corner, students of Hanford Joint Union High School District are now beginning to prepare for the yearly Winter Formal hosted at Sierra Pacific. This year’s dance will be planned out by Sierra’s class Advisor Arianna Martin alongside the class representatives of Sierra Pacific, Hanford West, and Hanford Highs. Formal bids have just now been released to all three campuses, giving notice to the students to start preparing for the dance as it quickly approaches.
This year’s formal is to be held on Dec. 9th from 7-10 p.m. at Sierra Pacific Campus gym. When speaking to one of Sierra’s class advisors, Isabell Rojas, she gave us a better insight into the alterations they have tried to take when planning out this year’s formal. Rojas gave us a clear insight into the theme of the formal and just how different it will be.
“The biggest difference we wanted to bring to this year’s formal compared to that of last year is transforming the gym to the theme. We wanted it to be as much like a late night out in the city of Paris under the stars and I really hope the vision comes to life and people enjoy it.”
From this, it shows us the drastic steps that the class representatives are taking to make that night a truly immersive night to remember. Adding to the excitement Rojas was able to describe what she hopes will be a grand token for kids to see at the dance, raising our excitement even more.
“There’s a certain element that I think people are really going to enjoy, we managed to acquire a seventeen foot eiffel tower so I hope people enjoy that. I also want people to enjoy the little things we are adding and I just know the entrance we have planned will be a hit.”
With that being said though, how inclusive will this dance be? Many school dances seem to lack a fun environment for everyone of all grades making some feel bored or left out. When speaking to Sierra Pacific class of 2024 advisor Miss Martin, we were able to get a better insight into how the class representatives at all campuses have taken their time to make this night inclusive for everyone.
“The school advisors and class officers from all schools have worked to make this Formal an event everyone feels welcomed at. We are advertising it as much as we can to get the word out there and have this event full of students who want to have a fun time. Every decision made for this event has been made always keeping in mind what most people would like or prefer. The cost for formal is also not as expensive, with this we hope students feel more comfortable attending.”
With all that being said it leaves a lot for people to look forward to. It brings excitement to the many classes in high school noting that they won’t be excluded from the festivities of this winter formal but rather will be included in the glee that will occur.
