With more than 3,000 schools in the U.S. that have a boys’ volleyball team, why haven’t more schools joined the fastest-growing boys’ sport?

One reason for high school not having boys volleyball most other schools don’t either, or not enough boys would want to participate. Well, then, let’s make boys’ volleyball a bigger thing so others will catch on and start.
This is giving high school boys a greater opportunity to explore sports and have fun being on a team. Most schools already have boys and girls basketball, boys and girls golf, boys and girls water polo, so why not boys and girls volleyball? Having a boys’ volleyball team will help increase diversity and balance in sports.
While having a boys and girls volleyball team may be more costly, it is still very important to have. What if boys have already played their sport of choice during the fall or winter, and now it’s time for a spring sport? Volleyball is right there, along with other sports like soccer, tennis, and baseball. However, these sports can be too boring and may not interest everyone.
With boys volleyball being a growing sport, and is wildly recognized as the fastest-growing boys’ team sport in the United States, why not have one? Well to the American Volleyball Coaches Association is showing numbers are increasing by over 76 percent in the last decade and a significant 12.57 percent increase in the 2024-25 academic year alone. This sport is a big appeal to young students.
Volleyball helps with coordination, agility, and fitness, which are really important parts of overall health. This boosts boys ‘ spirits and helps develop important social skills with guys who aren’t interested in playing basketball or football. Helping with both physical and mental health among boys.
Boys volleyball is way different from most of the contact sports like basketball or football. Like with football, it is way more prone to neurological damage from impacts, as well as tackling, to advance the ball down the field. Basketball is a contact sport involving dribbling, shooting, and physical defense. While these could be a major risk for people, and can be a major annoyance to most. The constant movement is a great way to get a full-body workout. With Volleyball being a non-contact sport that relies on agility, hand-eye coordination.
Volleyball is a fast-growing sport, and having both a boys and girls volleyball at high school will be a major upgrade for school programs and will have many more people being more physically active and improving their skills like, communication, coordination, and leadership. With many other advantages, if Sierra Pacific just gives it a try.
