Sierra Pacific’s track and field team had eight athletes compete at the Central Section Masters after finishing with top marks at the Central Section Division III championships in Exeter. No one qualified for this past week’s state meet.
At Masters, Brianna Patino qualified in two different events. In the girls 800, she finished in 11th (2:19.70) and then was ninth in the 1,600 (5:12.13).
In the boys 200 meters, Kolben Powers finished in 14th place, running a personal best 22.29 seconds.
In the girls 400, Alyssa Patino was 18th (1:00.73).
In the girls 4×100 relay, the team of Payten Lopes, Addison Covarrubias, Lylah Love and Ella Fritts finished in 12th (50.04).
In the girls triple jump, Byang Ayuen finished in 12th (35-7).
BASEBALL
The Golden Bears finished the season 18-10 after losing in the first round of the Central Section Division II playoffs.
After finishing second in its league, Sierra Pacific was given the No. 6 seed and a home game to open the playoffs.
Facing No. 11 Paso Robles, Sierra Pacific lost 2-1, collecting just four hits.
Nathan Chavez led the way, going 3-for-3 with two doubles.
On the mound, Kaleb Koelewyn picked up the loss, going six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out eight.
SOFTBALL
Sierra Pacific went 14-15-1 on the season, losing in the first round of the Central Section Division IV playoffs.
No. 9 Sierra Pacific led 1-0 afte three innings before falling 5-4 to No. 8 Golden Valley of Bakersfield.
SWIMMING
Sierra Pacific competed at the Div. I swimming and Diving championships with some swimmers posting competitive times.
Kaitlyn Bean finished 12th in the girls 500 freestyle final (5:24.94).
Morgan Darpli was 13th in the girls 100 backstroke (1:04.95).
Liam Buller was 13th in the boys 100 backstroke (55.89).
BOYS TENNIS
Sierra Pacific earned the No. 10 seed in the Div. II Section playoffs, losing its playoff opener to Arroya Grande 6-3.
