The Sierra Pacific Girls Basketball team (19-11) is headed to the Central Section Division II championship after defeating Clovis North 66-51 in the semifinals.
The seventh-seeded Golden Bears will compete Friday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Selland Arena in Fresno against No. 1 Bakersfield Christian (26-5) for the section title.
Bakersfield Christian defeated Monache 43-32 in the semifinals to advance to the championships.
The Lady Bears played Bakersfield Christian during their regular season Jan. 31. and won 60-54. Sierra Pacific is the defending Section champion.
Girls soccer
Sierra Pacific (11-8-5) will play for the Div. IV title on Thursday after defeating Templeton 2-1 in the semifinals.
Their opponent, No. 1 Fresno Christian (26-1-1), advanced to the championship after beating Porterville 2-1 in the semifinals.
The championship game will be played Thursday, Feb. 26 at Fresno Christian.
Rooter bus details
The Sierra Pacific Booster Club and ASB are providing free rooter buses and entry to both the girls basketball and girls soccer championship games.
On Thursday, a bus will take fans to Fresno Christian High School for the Lady Bears soccer championship.
On Friday, a bus will take fans to Selland Arena for the girls basketball Section championship.
Both buses will leave at 4:30 p.m. and return around 9 p.m.
To ride, pick up a parent permission slip from Mr. Snyder’s office, have it signed, and return it. Students must be academically eligible.
Baseball
Sierra Pacific Baseball kicked off its season with a 4-2 loss to Garces Monday, Feb. 23.
The Golden Bears next home match is Friday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. against San Joaquin Memorial.
