The Sierra Pacific boys basketball team’s season came to an end Saturday, Feb. 15, with a loss in the first round of the Central Section Div. IV playoffs.
The 13th-seeded Golden Bears trailed after every quarter on their way to an 82-44 defeat to No. 4 Fresno Christian.
With the win, Fresno Christian improves to 28-1 overall on the season while Sierra Pacific ends the year 15-14 overall.
Fresno Christian advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinals against No. 5 Kingsburg.
GIRLS SOCCER
No. 3 Sierra Pacific got goals from three different players on its way to a 3-1 win over No. 14 Orcutt Academy to open the Central Section Div. IV playoffs.
Scoring for Sierra Pacific were Addison Covarrubias, Morgan Jones and Adison Morfin.
Sierra Pacific (9-8-5 overall) advances to Tuesday’s quarterfinals when it will host No. 11 Morro Bay at 6 p.m.
Morro Bay upset No. 6 Washington Union 5-1 in the first round.
BOYS SOCCER
In Div. IV, the Golden Bears lost 2-1 to Lemoore to end its season.
The Tigers advance to host No. 15 San Joaquin Memorial, which upset No. 2 McFarland 0-0 (winning in PKs).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sierra Pacific opened defense of its Central Section Div. II title with a 73-38 blowout victory over No. 10 Liberty (Bakersfield).
The seventh-seeded Golden Bears hit the road for a quarterfinal against Centennial (Bakersfield) Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
Sierra Pacific is now 17-11 overall.
The winner faces either No. 3 Frontier or No. 6 Clovis North.
