Modern Farmhouse Cookies is a small gourmet cookie shop in downtown Hanford, California. It is locally owned and is usually open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 am-5 pm.. The shop is located at 250 W 8th St.
Modern Farmhouse Cookies first opened on May 11, 2023. Ever since this grand opening, people have been raving about it. Reviews are incredible, and it is obvious that it is a favorite in Hanford. Many social media posts have been praising their cookies, coffee, and ice cream. The owner, who is a home baker, decided to make cookies for a job, and it was a success. The Modern Farmhouse Cookies’s website says, “We turned a passion into a career!”
The menu is very diverse. Some popular cookies include S’mores, Chocolate Chip Sea Salt, and Oreo. In the shop, cookie types are swapped out according to the time of year, and popularity. When I entered the shop, they were offering Chocolate Chip, S’mores, Salted Caramel Crunch, Fudgy Red Velvet, and Oatmeal Creampie. They also had a selection of large rice krispies. However, on the website, you can order Chocolate Chip, Oreo Funfetti, S’mores, Double Chocolate Peanut Butter, Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, Holiday Oreo Funfetti, and Oreo. During October and November, they have Pumpkin Bread.
They also offer a drink that they call Twisted Soda, which is a soda with different flavors mixed in. In addition to this, they have lattes, mochas, macchiatos, espressos, tea, iced tea, and several other hot and cold drinks. During the summer, they offer ice cream. Sometimes, they have brownies, which I have personally had, and can honestly say that it was incredible, especially if you like very chocolatey brownies.
The shop is a decent size, with a slightly rustic feel to it. They have several tables, and also a comfortable couch and chairs grouped around a coffee table in front of a cozy fake fireplace. The coffee table has several games on and under it, such as Chinese Checkers and tic-tac-toe. During Christmas, a very large and beautifully decorated tree takes up a lot of space near the couch. They also have a bathroom, which is very clean and always open to the public.
Modern Farmhouse Cookies does fairly steady business. Every time I have gone in or walked by two or three people are waiting in line. According to a review by the Hanford Sentinel, the day it opened there was a line down the block waiting to try a cookie.
The staff are also very nice. The lady I talked to was generous with information and very friendly. She was helpful when I asked if they had ice cream or brownies, telling me that they only offer those at certain times of the year. The wait was very short, as the cookies were already made and on the display on the counter.
Overall, Modern Farmhouse Cookies is a great little shop, and I would recommend it every time someone asks me about it.
