Jordan Terrell Carter, AKA “Playboi Carti,” has been in the music game for a long time. He started making music when he was a young boy and released his first song, “Cry,” in 2011 when he was 15 years old and went under the alias “$ir Cartier”. He released a lot of music during that time, which helped him shape and figure out the sound he wanted when he first released official music on Spotify.
Carti released three albums on Spotify before dropping “I AM MUSIC,” and each had a unique style. They showed how he was evolving and changing his style, ensuring the fans always had something new to listen to. “Whole Lotta Red” was the most unique and distinctive album Carti released before he went MIA on the albums.
After WLR Carti announced a couple of albums set to release over the next five years, including “Narcissist” And as you may already know, “I AM MUSIC” It took carti five years to drop “MUSIC” which almost killed the momentum of the album because he took so long and lied to has fans countless of times saying he was going to drop but never did. Carti fans wanted to give and were even planning on boycotting his music because they thought MUSIC would never release, and were upset. But that’s when he finally gave the first real date posted on Instagram, saying the words “March 14, 2025.” People thought it was fake and that it wasn’t actually going to release, and that he would lie to us again, and a couple of days later, after he announced the drop, “I AM MUSIC” was released on the date just like he said.
“I AM MUSIC” is the most unique album he has ever released because everything had a unique sound to it and used a new voice he adapted, which was deeper and nothing like his “baby voice,” and some songs he even used both sounds, which was amazing. Carti released 30 songs on the album to make up for the five years that gave us no music. He had a lot of features from other famous rappers on the album, like The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Skepta. The most popular song on the album was “Evil Jordan,” and the most popular song with a feature is “Rather Lie.” Both of these pulled over 100 million views on Spotify, which were the only ones to do so.
Songs on the album that stood out to me were definitely “Evil Jordan,” which was most people’s favorite because of the unique sounding flow, and the beat matches perfectly with his deep voice. And then there is “Rather Lie” with the Weekend, it had a melodious flow from both artists, and perfectly matched the style of each other, and was different from other songs because it didn’t follow the “rage” style he usually has. There is also “Kpop,” which had a violent rage flow to it with loud, pitched vocals and a beat with loud 808s to fit it. which is perfect for anyone to get hyped to. “Fine Shit” had Cartis melodic voice seen in “Rather Lie” and had catchy vocals that could be stuck in anyone’s head, it’s a perfect song for anyone to vibe too.
Those songs were my favorites on the album and stuck out to me throughout all my listens. Playboi cartis album was a solid 8.5/10 it had diverse sounds and beats to it making sure there was something new every song, he got features from other big time artist which people loved and almost every song had replay value and were on apps like TikTok and Instagram with in a day of it’s release. Everything about this album was amazing. He developed new sounds and gave us amazing beats that were unique and brought out big people for this release.
This album was worth the wait, and I enjoyed every part of it and was not disappointed at all. I would recommend this album to anyone, and I can’t wait for his next album to come out and see what he has new for us!
